Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,
Our prayers are with you during this challenging and confusing time. By now you know of the order from the Alameda County Public Health department to shelter-in-place between March 17-April 7 to curb the spread of the coronavirus. In alignment with guidance from the Archdiocese of America and the Metropolis of San Francisco, participation by the Resurrection Faithful in services, until announced otherwise, will be virtually only.
At this time, we will hold Lenten services and Divine Liturgy in the church with just myself, one chanter, and 1-2 assistants. Parishioners will not be permitted to congregate at the church. Video-stream of the services will be available for worshippers who can view online. Our YouTube channel is: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCPSwUIDbfi9qdmyJfUnHrQ.
Our primary concern is the health and safety of our parishioners and caring for those in need. Pastoral and sacramental visits and Food Pantry distribution (under guidelines from the Alameda County Community Food Bank) will continue as essential services. Please contact Nora Chopelas or Todd Hoyer if you are in good health and able to assist at Food Pantry distribution on Saturday, March 28 for further instructions. If you would like to receive Holy Communion or Holy Confession, please call or email the church office at (510) 581-8950, firstname.lastname@example.org and Father Niko will contact you directly. Please leave a message if no one is available to answer the phone. If you know of someone in need of assistance or if your family has been adversely affected by Covid-19, please contact Father Niko or Parish Council President Rebecca Spiros Hoyer. All matters will be held in the strictest confidence.
Please note: Communications from the parish office and leadership will be by email only. We will not have the office staffed to send mailings, including the monthly printed bulletin. Ministry leaders may continue to connect with members via Flocknote email or text. We can all help each other by maintaining connection during these uncertain times.
May we all continue our personal journey through this season of Great Lent by praying, fasting, and giving alms in preparation of the resurrection of our Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ. Let’s all join together in the following prayer for strength:
My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, You came down from Heaven to live as man, You died on the cross for our salvation. Through Your love and compassion You healed people of sickness and affliction. Visit those suffering now, Lord, and grant strength and healing from this sickness with which they are afflicted. We trust Your loving care; You are the only true source of life and healing. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we give You praise and Glory to the ages of ages. Amen.
Yours in Christ,
Father Niko Bekris
