Things to Know
Alameda County Public Health Department currently requires all individuals over the age of 2 wear a face covering in public indoor settings. Parishioners over the age of 2 need to wear masks while attending Divine Services in the church; ministry meetings, coffee hour, and all other activities in the Agape Hall – regardless of vaccination status. Parishioners who wish to receive Holy Communion may remove their masks as they approach the chalice, and place it back on before returning to their seats. Chanters and members of the Resurrection Choir may remove their masks while actively singing/chanting during the Divine Liturgy and at choir rehearsal.

UPDATE – February 10, 2021
Glory be to God – Great news! The United States Supreme Court ruled last Friday that California cannot enforce its ban on indoor worship services. As a result, the State updated its guidance for indoor worship to be 25% of building capacity.

This means we are reopening our beloved Resurrection for indoor, in-person worship beginning this Sunday, February 14. Read more

UPDATE – November 18, 2020
With the recent surge in Coronavirus cases in California and specifically, because of Alameda County’s move to Purple Tier, we regretfully must go back to offering in-person, outdoor Divine Services on Sundays, weather permitting. Weekday Services will be available for viewing remotely via the Resurrection YouTube channel and Facebook page only.

You may continue to sign up for In-person Outdoor Sunday Divine Services  following the current process. Please dress warm. Due to possible winds, sun shades/tents will not be set up for safety reasons.

The Reopening Readiness team will monitor the weather each week. If rain is projected, outdoor services will be canceled and a notification will be sent out via email to all parishioners the Friday before services.

We are currently reassessing offering in-person, outdoor Worship Services due to the recent Alameda County COVID-19 move to Purple Tier.  You may continue to sign up for worship services in November, but you will be automatically placed on a waitlist until more information is communicated later this week. Divine Services will continue to be live-streamed on the Resurrection YouTube channel

Thank you for your understanding.

UPDATE – October 20, 2020: In-person, Indoor Worship Services Begin November 1st
Alameda County has announced that indoor worship services (up to 25 percent capacity or fewer that 100 people) may resume, beginning October 26.
With the goal of providing the sacrament of Holy Communion to as many parishioners as possible, and aligning with our mission to Bring People Closer to God, we will once again offer in-person, indoor Divine Services for Resurrection parishioners beginning November 1, 2020. Read more

IMPORTANT: Guidelines, Restrictions, and Procedures
As before, there are liturgical guidelines and strict limits on how many people may gather for services, which we must follow. Please read the “Preparing for In-Person, Indoor Divine Services” instructions BEFORE coming to church. If you have any questions or concerns, please use the “Parish Council Ask Us Anything” portal to ensure a timely response, or review the revised Reopening of the Church FAQs.

UPDATE – July 21, 2020
Once again, thanks be to God! UPDATE – July 16, 2020: Special Video Update from Fr. Niko: In-person, Indoor Worship Services Paused

Due to the current increase in COVID-19 cases within Alameda County, we are now subject to the stricter State-imposed restrictions and enforcement – which means that the hosting of in-person, indoor worship services is not allowed at this time.

Because of this, we ask that you (1) pray for deliverance from the peril of the coronavirus and (2) participate in the live-streaming of our services on the Resurrection YouTube Channel and Resurrection Facebook Page this Sunday, July 19th and Monday, July 20th – and hopefully in the near future, outdoors on the church grounds. Stay tuned – more details will be announced shortly.

If you have questions or concerns, please use the “Parish Council Ask Us Anything” portal to ensure a timely response. We pray that all of you are staying safe and healthy, and we look forward to once again worshipping together as a parish family.

Thank you,
The Parish Council Contingency Planning Task Force and Reopening Readiness Team

Update – June 19, 2020: Welcome home, Parishioners
We’ve been physically apart far too long and now, after much prayer, preparation, and planning, our beloved Resurrection has now reopened for in-person worship.  Glory be to God!

Our Parish Council Contingency Planning Task Force and Reopening Readiness Team has spent many hours readying the church in a safe, healthy, and phased manner under the guidance of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, San Francisco Metropolis, and the Alameda County Office of Public Health. As a result, there are strict limits on how many people may gather for services. For the first phase of limited worship, we are conservatively limiting attendance to less than 50 parishioners; therefore, we are asking you to sign-up in advance to attend services.

Visit the Resurrection registration site for attending Divine Services in person at to reserve your seat for Divine Services celebrated in June and July 2020. At this time, attendance is reserved for Resurrection parishioners only, per the direction of the Metropolis of San Francisco (attendance by parishioners-only applies to all SF Metropolis parishes). Registration for Divine Services in August will become available in mid-July.

Important: Registering to attend Divine Services in-person does not guarantee a seat(s) at the service(s) you select. Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis, but we will monitor the process to ensure that all parishioners have an opportunity to attend services in the first 2-3 months. You will receive an email approximately three days prior to your requested service date/time informing you whether you are confirmed to attend or waitlisted for that service. Your email will serve as your official confirmation and may need to be presented when attending in-person service(s). Confirmed parishioners who arrive more than 30 minutes after the beginning of the Divine Liturgy will not be admitted. No exceptions.

Please review the Safe Practices Guidelines, Preparing for In-Person Divine Services Instructions, and Reopening of the Church Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) BEFORE coming to church. After reviewing these resources, if you have questions or concerns, please let us know on our new “Parish Council Ask Us Anything” portal.

I am eagerly anticipating once again worshiping in person with all of you in our beloved congregation. Thank you in advance for your patience, understanding and love.

God bless!
Father Niko Bekris

For your safety and the well-being of others, if you are over 65 years of age or have health conditions that make you more vulnerable, you are advised to remain at home and watch the Divine Services being live-streamed on YouTube and Facebook. Please stay home if you are not feeling well. It is also strongly recommended that you not attend in-person services if you have traveled outside the Bay Area within the past 14 days. It is better to be cautious than risk your own health and possibly expose others to any illness.
